Digital health and patient education company Vivacare announced today a new initiative to align with August’s Psoriasis Awareness Month. Dermatologists from around the country are invited to contribute their clinical insights for patients to better understand and manage their psoriasis. Vivacare provides dermatologists with an in-depth collection of patient education resources that they can easily personalize with their own content and professional perspective.
In honor of Psoriasis Awareness Month, Vivacare is requesting dermatologists share their tips and wisdom regarding psoriasis and its treatment. Information provided by dermatologists is included with other psoriasis education resources and highlighted on Vivacare’s Physician Directory, helping dermatologists communicate their unique approach to care and supporting their online marketing efforts.
Dr. Mark Becker, Pediatrician, Founder and CEO of Vivacare says, “Vivacare wants to make it easy for physicians to share their expertise with patients. After years of medical practice, clinicians have gained unique insights that can help their patients better manage their care and we encourage them to publish their pearls of wisdom. In regards to psoriasis, dermatologists have a wealth of knowledge to share with their patients about what to expect, how to manage it and how to evaluate treatment options.”
Tips and wisdom have been contributed from nationally recognized psoriasis experts including Dr. Steve Feldman, Professor of Dermatology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and member of the Medical Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation. Dr. Feldman shares his insight on biologics, phototherapy, corticosteroids, vitamin D derivatives and more in his approach to treating psoriasis. “Although there is no cure for psoriasis, there are a variety of effective treatment options that can clear the skin lesions caused by psoriasis,” Dr. Feldman states.
Dermatologist Dr. LindaSusan Marcus also describes her general approach to treating psoriasis, the usefulness of topical medications for mild psoriasis and the role of biologics for more severe cases. “I encourage my patients to choose an appropriate biologic and one that fits into their lifestyle as well. This is a partnership between my patients and myself.”
Vivacare provides licensed medical professionals with patient education resources, including printable handouts, videos, and patient support tools. Allergists, dermatologists, primary care providers and other licensed medical professionals who enroll in the Vivacare service will receive a personalized “Patient Education Toolkit” with content that can be easily distributed to patients via print, email, text or displayed on the provider’s own website. These resources are delivered through a doctor-branded channel so patients receive information from the source they trust most, their own provider.
