Onyx’s SAFHIR platform will be used as a test Server for the CARIN Alliance Consumer Directed Payer Exchange track where all participating consumer-controlled apps can register and interact with the latest version of the Implementation Guide.

ELKRIDGE, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#HL7–Onyx Technology, a standards-based healthcare interoperability solutions provider and the commercial healthcare division of NewWave Telecom & Technology, a HL7 benefactor organization, today announces its major participation at the upcoming Virtual HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) Connectathon on Sept. 9-11, 2020. Onyx’s SAFHIR platform will be used as a test Server for the CARIN Alliance Consumer Directed Payer Exchange track.

The results of the Connectathon will be utilized for the balloting of the CARIN for Blue Button® Implementation Guide specification. HL7 Connectathon participants will have the opportunity to develop and test interoperable solutions alongside senior members of the HL7 FHIR standards development team and other FHIR developers, including Mark Scrimshire, Onyx’s Chief Interoperability Officer, who is responsible for designing and implementing the CMS Blue Button 2.0 API, which brings Consumer-Directed Exchange and FHIR together in the federal government.

At the Connectathon, Onyx will showcase SAFHIR, its FHIR-based solution which offers payers and providers the ability to significantly expand their capability to share data within their organizations, with partners, and patients. Now available in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, SAFHIR is a secure, high performing, scalable cloud platform designed to support a growing portfolio of FHIR-based solutions for payers and providers.

“The vibrant, global community that supports and refines the HL7 FHIR specification has driven the creation of open source solutions and reference implementations,” said Scrimshire who is also HL7 Da Vinci PDEX co-chair. “These are rapidly turning into cloud-based services and commercial products that will in turn drive greater adoption of the specification and help to improve interoperability. At Onyx, we feel having this laser focus on FHIR-based interoperability and supporting HL7 is how we are helping to shape the next generation of implementation guides.”

Onyx is actively engaged at the forefront of the interoperability solutions industry and is proud to participate in a variety of HL7 events as a part of the growing FHIR community, and as a contributor to HL7 FHIR accelerator projects including Da Vinci, CARIN Alliance, and Gravity.
